 Gary
Hartstein was born in 1955 in Staten Island in the USA. He is currently the
Chief Medical Delegate in Formula One, replacing Sid Watkins at the beginning of
2005, after his retirement.Hartstein's first involvement with Formula One was in 1989, as he began work at Spa-Francorchamps as part of its medical team. He continued his work at Spa until 1997 when the FIA appointed his as an anesthetist to ride along in the Medical Car along with Watkins. Hartstein is an Associate Professor of Anesthesia and Emergency Medicine at the University Hospital, Liège in Belgium. |
