OVERVIEW 2005 was a huge disappointment for the Maranello team. After dominating the 2000's, they slipped behind, and only secured one win at the controversial USA GP. The oldest team in F1, having competed since the series inception in 1950, and definitely the most successful, claiming 14 constructors championships and 14 drivers championships. Also undefeated constructors champions from 1999-2004, and undefeated drivers champions from 2000-2005. The 2000's have definitely been the Ferrari era, and since Schumacher's arrival in 1996, the team has never looked back. 2006 see's the first driver line up change since 2000, as Rubens Barrichello has left to join Honda. Felipe Massa therefore steps in to join Schumacher, it what the team promises to be a competitive year. Massa, is unproven, and needs to impress with rumours of Raikkonen or Moto GP star Valentino Rossi possibly joining in 2007, and Schumacher may also retire at the end of the season. |
