The 1961 British Grand Prix weekend is famed for
Stirling Moss running for two different teams during the weekend.
During practice, Moss drive Rob Walker's four-wheel-drive Ferguson. However for
qualifying, Jack Fairman took over the Ferguson, while Moss revered back to
Walker's Lotus 18.
Moss qualified fifth, and at one point was up to second in wet conditions.
However when it dried out he began to drop back with brake issues. He eventually
retired, but got back to the pits, and took over Fairman's Ferguson. However,
this rather unusual situation was ended when Moss was disqualified for receiving
a push start in the pits.
Wolfgang Von Trips won the race, with Phil Hill second, and Ritchie Ginther
third, completing an all Ferrari podium.
